3000 Year Old Cypress Tree
The 3000-year-old cypress tree, standing majestically in Nyingchi (also called Lingzhi), near Pagyi Village, is a magnet for countless globetrotting travelers. This colossal cypress is not only the tallest and oldest in the entirety of China but also serves as the centerpiece among a grove of thousands of other cypress trees, varying in size from diminutive saplings to large, mature specimens.
With the government closely overseeing, a group of dedicated experts is committed to the meticulous care of these trees. Their aim is to foster an environment where the cypresses can grow unhindered, maintaining their natural state. Based on in – depth analysis, these experts have determined that it’s evident these cypress trees are part of the Yarlung River (referred to as Tsangpo in Tibetan) tree family. This finding not only deepens our understanding of the region’s unique ecological heritage but also highlights the significance of preserving these ancient arboreal treasures.
