After I read The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo, I was inspired to take more steps in the direction of my Personal Legend, therefore deciding to follow that inner calling and go to Tibet.

SamDup and his team took excellent care of me — a young woman traveling alone to a far and foreign place. I saw pristine nature views unlike any I’ve seen before, and I enjoyed learning about the rich Tibetan history and culture from my guide, NamGyal. I felt safe, accommodated, and even cherished by my new friends.

What they didn’t know was how much impact this trip had on my personal spiritual journey. Ever since losing my father at a young age and facing a troubled childhood thereafter, I struggled with my mental health I struggled to find my way in the world. Somehow, I found the answers within myself while I was in Tibet. These answers pointed me back home — an interesting parallel to the story in The Alchemist.

We don’t always know why things happen the way they do, or why we feel so called to go where we do whether it’s a deep yearning to examine reality somewhere distant and mystic, or just a desire to visit beautiful mountain ranges and historic temples, I say that the adventure awaits! So follow that inner nudge and visit Tibet with my friends at Roof of the World!

I visited Tibet from Nepal, on a motorcycle tour to visit Lhasa and North Base Camp of Mt. Everest. While we were there, a late-season monsoon eliminated road access back to Nepal. While we waited near the border, the Chinese government needed us to leave, as sitting around a town aimlessly for an indefinite amount of time was not what they wanted. Samdup stepped up to the plate. He found us a tour bus to get back to Lhasa, worked some channels to find last-minute plane tickets to Nepal, and most importantly, worked to separate our group visa while half our group was in Lhasa and the other half in Chengdu. He pulled some strings that I didn't think were possible and ensured every last one of us got back to Nepal. I've never seen anyone work so diligently or efficiently, expertly talking to the authorities across borders and doing everything in his power to ensure we were all taken care of. It would take too long to detail exactly what he did, but rest assured he did the impossible and didn't rest until we were back home.

  Tibet Experience  - We had a great time in Tibet. The guides organized everything and took great care of our group. We received historical information, had picnics and went to great places.
