Most of the time, the peak of Namcha Bawa is shrouded in clouds, making it rare for visitors to catch a glimpse of its beauty. However, during the autumn season, the skies clear up, presenting an extraordinary opportunity for the mountain to reveal its splendor. One of the best vantage points to admire the peak is from Serkyim La, which is at an elevation of 4,500 meters. The journey to this high pass involves navigating numerous zigzagged roads that lead to the lush green heights. At the top of the pass, the snow – covered ground is adorned with fluttering colorful prayer flags. In the distance, the charming peak of Namcha Bawa stands majestically within the Great Bend of the Yarlung Tsangpo River.
Historically and geographically significant in Tibetan history, Namcha Bawa stands at the center of other snow-capped mountains. Its lengthy shoulders are truly remarkable when viewed from the top of the high pass. The forestry landscape near Bayi, a large town close to the peak, is filled with lush trees and beautiful flowers.
