Tour Plan

Day 1: Nepal border to Kyirong (2700m), enter China from Kyirong
Your guide will be waiting for you at the border. They’ll help you smoothly through customs, guiding you safely across into Kyirong.
Overnight in Kyirong
(FYI: IF time permits obtain ATP, otherwise you can do it next day after the office opens)

Day 2: Kyirong to Rongbuk (5050m) via Peiku Tso Lake
From Kyirong, we head toward Everest. Passing Peiku Tso, the lake shimmers like a blue gem. A local Tibetan offers us warm butter tea—simple kindness warms the cold air. Every step closer to EBC feels sacred, with the Himalayas watching over us.

Overnight at local budget tent guesthouse. 370km

Day 3: EBC to Shigatse (3900m)
After exploring the EBC we will gradually drive to Shigatse city (3900m), 360km

Day 4. Shigatse City tour & Paperwork
Today we need to obtain temporary driving license and vehicle tag to travel within China, also need to buy local insurance for the vehicle as well.

Day 5: Shigatse to Lhasa(3650m),360Km
We will drive to Lhasa via Gyangtse town, Karo la glacier (7200m), Yamdrok lake (4880m), 360km

Day 6. Lhasa City Tour
Today we will visit the cardinal landmark of Tibet, Potala palace and main buddhist temple called Jokhang temple. Enjoy the walk around sacred temple to enjoy local culture.

Day 7: Lhasa - Nam Tso-Damshung (4300m), 330km
Today, drive through Damshung and cross Lhachen La Pass (5,190 m) to reach Nam Tso. Nomads live on the vast Changthang Plain around Nam Tso. At 4,718 m above sea level, Nam Tso is one of the world’s highest large lakes and one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes, a holy site for Tibetans. Hike on Tashi Peninsula and walk a kora around the sacred mountain, where cliffs show centuries of erosion. Visit local families in yak-hair tents. If the weather is clear, don’t miss the unforgettable sunrise over Nam Tso and Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain.

Overnight at Damshung town

Day 8: Damshung town - Nakchu (4500m) - Tanggula pass (5230m) - Amdo town - Yanshiping (490km)
Travel along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, crossing the towering Tanggula Pass (5,231 m) and the dramatic Lhachen La Pass (5,190 m) en route to Nam Tso, where nomads roam the vast Changtang Grasslands (Qiangtang Plain).

Overnight at Yanshiping

Day 9: Yanshiping to Golmud via Tuotuo He (4530m) and Kunlun pass (4767m), 515km
Driving on the Qinghai-Tibet Road, you will see a grand and endless landscape gallery with snow-covered mountains, rivers, gorges, lakes, and vast steppes. You may also spot Tibetan antelope.

Overnight in Golmud

Day 10: Golmud to Dunhuang, 545km
Drive across the plateau and visit Cha’erhan Salt Lake. Golmud is an important station on the Qinghai-Tibet Road and Railway.

Day 11: Dunhuang - Liuyuan - Hami, 415km
Drive from Dunhuang and detour to the tomb of the Hami King.

Day 12: Hami - Turpan, 415km
Visit the Thousand-Buddha Caves of Beziklik in the Flaming Mountains, and explore ruins of Gaochang ancient city.

Day 13: Turpan - Korla, 370km
Visit Boston Lake, Valley of Vineyards, Karze irrigation system, Emin Minaret Tower.

Day 14: Korla – Aksu prefecture, 550km
Enjoy scenic landscapes and visit Bosten Lake, Luobu Village, Tianshan Grand Canyon, and Kizil Thousand-Buddha Caves.

Day 15: Aksu prefecture – Kashgar, 470km
Travel to Kashgar, explore Uyghur culture and local markets.

1: Tibet Travel Permit

Without Tibet Travel Permits, you cannot enter Tibet (Tibet Autonomous Region), China, but it is not difficult to obtain the permit, registered company like TRW, it can be easily obtain it for you if your Tibet Tour has been confirmed with a legit registered local travel company.

2: Alien Permit

Alien Travel Permit (ATP) is an additional permit which is required if your itinerary is in Gyirong, Kailash, Ngari and EBC in western part of Tibet,Tsedang,Nyinchi, Ranwo Lake, Basum Lake, Sakga or Shalu Monasteries in Shigatse area,

3: Military Permit

The Military Permits as you can see from the word, this permit is related to military department, thus, this travel document is mainly issued by the military authority in Tibet, in fact, this permit is compulsory for entering to any border regions between China and neighboring countries. Military permits are required for visiting following places in Tibet apart from TTP.

  • Ali (Far Western Tibet)
  • Guge Kingdom (Far Western Tibet)
  • Gyirong (New Border to Nepal)
  • Lake Manasarovar (Near Mt. Kailash in Far Western Tibet)
  • Kailash (Western Tibet)
  • Nyima country (Border country between Ali and Nakchu Prefecture)
  • Cochin

Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) is the basic required permit to travel to Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), every foreign travelers must need Tibet Travel Permit to enter to Tibet along with your Chinese Visa or Tibet Group Visa. Though it seems very hard or confusing, it just takes few simple steps, and your travel agency will do the rest.

Tibet Travel Permit is mainly obtained from Tibet Tourism Bureau in Lhasa, Tibet, which contains the tourist’s information and confirmed itineraries.

According to the latest Chinese regulations for foreign visitors, passports must have a validity of six months (at least) to apply for a Chinese visa. This requirement also applies when traveling to Tibet along with Tibet Travel Permit.
