Darboche
Darchen Flag Square is a key landmark at Darchen, Barga town, Purang county, Tibet Autonomous Region. It is the iconic starting point for both pilgrims and tourists to start the 52km trek or kora around the sacred Mt.Kailash with an average elevation of 4700m above sea level. Also known as Sershong or Darchen Kunsang is well known for Darboche flagpole (prayer flagpole) occurring on every year on the 15th day of Saka Dawa Festival (birth, enlightenment, and Parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni). The flag square will cover with several thousands of pilgrims, monks, and tourists to witness 25-meter-tall giant mast draped in colorful Tibetan prayer flags changed from old to new colorful prayer flags and erect in the center of flagpole by locals and tourists every year.
25-meter-tall Tibet prayer flagpole erects in the center of Sershong ground on the 15th day on Saka Dawa month.
The year of Horse in Buddhism is such an auspicious year that every good merits or deeds mutiplies thirteen times.
