Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival to Kyirong border (2700m) from Syabrubesi
The heart of the journey is crossing the China–Nepal Friendship Bridge over the Trishuli River—a steel bridge symbolizing the bond between two nations. On the Nepalese side, you’ll witness bustling traders and vibrant local markets, while on the Tibetan side, the scenery transforms into alpine meadows and Tibetan-style architecture. After completing immigration and customs, your drive into Tibet begins, marking the start of your Kyirong adventure. Attraction: Kyirong Grand Canyon. Overnight in Kyirong.

Day 2: Kyirong to New Tingri (4050m), 270 km
Ride through one of Tibet’s most dramatic landscapes along the iconic G219 route, where every turn reveals snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, and timeless Tibetan scenery. Attraction: Kyirong Valley, Shishapangma Peak, Peiku Tso Lake. Overnight in New Tingri.

Day 3: New Tingri to Shigatse (3900m), 327 km
Experience Tibet’s raw beauty on a scenic ride filled with Himalayan ranges and stunning turquoise lakes. Attraction: Snow-capped Himalayan mountains, highland lakes. Overnight in Shigatse.

Day 4: Shigatse to Lhasa (3650m), 340 km (B)
A smooth and enjoyable ride with cool mountain air, offering breathtaking views of glaciers and expansive lakes. Take relaxing breaks to fully absorb the serene highland beauty. Attraction: Kamba La Pass, snow-capped peaks. Overnight in Lhasa.

Day 5: Lhasa City Tour (B)
Explore the majestic Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lamas. Visit Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibet, and stroll through Barkhor Street to experience local Tibetan culture and daily life. Attraction: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street. Overnight in Lhasa.

Day 6: Lhasa to Shigatse (B)
Begin early and journey through spectacular landscapes, including the stunning Yamdrok Lake, the towering Mt. Nojin Kangtsang, and the magnificent Karola Glacier. In Gyantse, explore Pelkor Chode Monastery and the historic Kumbum Stupa before continuing to Shigatse. Attraction: Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier, Pelkor Chode Monastery. Overnight in Shigatse.

Day 7: Shigatse to Shegar (4050m), 240 km (B)
Visit Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama, before heading toward Shegar through vast grasslands dotted with grazing yaks and distant snowy peaks. Attraction: Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Tibetan grasslands, mountain views. Overnight in Shegar.

Day 8: Shegar to Everest Base Camp (5050m), 350 km
Ride toward the iconic Everest Base Camp, enjoying panoramic highland views, fresh mountain air, and unforgettable scenery. Attraction: Mount Everest, Gawula Pass, Everest Base Camp. Overnight at EBC or Rongbuk Guesthouse.

Day 9: EBC to Kyirong via Old Tingri
Witness a breathtaking sunrise over Mount Everest, visit Rongbuk Monastery—one of the highest monasteries in the world—and return to Kyirong. Attraction: Everest sunrise, Rongbuk Monastery. Overnight in Kyirong.

Day 10: Departure via Kyirong border
Conclude your journey as you cross back into Nepal, carrying unforgettable memories of Tibet’s landscapes, culture, and spiritual essence.

1: Tibet Travel Permit

Without Tibet Travel Permits, you cannot enter Tibet (Tibet Autonomous Region), China, but it is not difficult to obtain the permit, registered company like TRW, it can be easily obtain it for you if your Tibet Tour has been confirmed with a legit registered local travel company.

2: Alien Permit

Alien Travel Permit (ATP) is an additional permit which is required if your itinerary is in Gyirong, Kailash, Ngari and EBC in western part of Tibet,Tsedang,Nyinchi, Ranwo Lake, Basum Lake, Sakga or Shalu Monasteries in Shigatse area,

3: Military Permit

The Military Permits as you can see from the word, this permit is related to military department, thus, this travel document is mainly issued by the military authority in Tibet, in fact, this permit is compulsory for entering to any border regions between China and neighboring countries. Military permits are required for visiting following places in Tibet apart from TTP.

  • Ali (Far Western Tibet)
  • Guge Kingdom (Far Western Tibet)
  • Gyirong (New Border to Nepal)
  • Lake Manasarovar (Near Mt. Kailash in Far Western Tibet)
  • Kailash (Western Tibet)
  • Nyima country (Border country between Ali and Nakchu Prefecture)
  • Cochin

Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) is the basic required permit to travel to Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), every foreign travelers must need Tibet Travel Permit to enter to Tibet along with your Chinese Visa or Tibet Group Visa. Though it seems very hard or confusing, it just takes few simple steps, and your travel agency will do the rest.

Tibet Travel Permit is mainly obtained from Tibet Tourism Bureau in Lhasa, Tibet, which contains the tourist’s information and confirmed itineraries.

According to the latest Chinese regulations for foreign visitors, passports must have a validity of six months (at least) to apply for a Chinese visa. This requirement also applies when traveling to Tibet along with Tibet Travel Permit.
