Tour Plan

Day1. Arrival in Lhasa (3650m)

Your guide and driver will meet you at the Airport or train station and transfer you to your hotel in Lhasa city.

Overnight in Lhasa

Day2. Lhasa City Exploration

Today you will visit the majestic Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and iconic symbol of Tibet. After lunch, you will visit to the spiritual heart of Lhasa, the Jokhang Temple, a revered pilgrimage site for Tibetans.

Then you can immerse yourself in local life of Tibetan in Barkhor street, the traditional Tibetan market and devotional kora route surrounding the temple.

Day3. Monastic Heritage Tour

Today, you will drive to the Drepung monastery, once the largest monastery in Tibet and home to thousands of monks. You will explore the ancient chapels and gain insight into Tibetan monastic life of monks.

In the afternoon, visit Sera Monastery, famous for its philosophical monk debates session held in the courtyard.

Day4. Lhasa-Gyantse(3900m)-Shigatse(3900m),350Km

Today, you will depart from Lhasa early in the morning to have available time to explore all the attractions on the way to Shigatse. You will stop at Yamdrok lake, which is sacred and stunning lake with turquoise color. From the distance, you will see the beautiful view of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang(7191m) and will visit to the spectacular Karola Glacier before heading to Gyantse.

In Gyantse, you will visit Pelkor Chode Monastery and the iconic Kumbum Stupa which is the Tibet’s most prominent Buddhist stupa. Then cross the Tibetan countryside to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet and also seat of the Panchen Lama ( 2nd highest Lama in Gelupa Buddhism).

Day 5: Shigatse to Lhatse (4200m), 448kms

Depart from Shigatse and drive through wild landscape of western Tibet,Qangtang plateau. You will have stunning view of snow-capped moutains of Himalayan ranges.

Day6: Lhatse to Saga (4600m),312Km

Depart from Lhatse and drive along the Rugged and Beautiful Landscape and wilderness of Central Tibet. You might be lucky to spot some wildlife in the region.

Day7: Saga to Manasarovar Lake (5000m), 493kms

You authentic western Tibet wilderness adventure starts from here, with stunning views of the Tibetan Plateau unfolding along the way.

Drive 520Km along the Yarlung Tsangpo River through incredible terrain, stopping at Mansarovar Lake, one of Tibet’s three holiest lakes.

Hindus believe a dip here washes away sins, and its shores are perfect for meditation. Then you will continue to Darchen, the base campe for Mt. Kailash treks.

 Day 8: First Day of Mt. Kailash Kora-Darchen to Dirapuk(5080m),20Km

The first day of our trek will take us 20 kilometres from Darchen around Mt. Kailash to Dira Puk Monastery. You will follow this ancient pilgrimage route with Tibetan Buddhist and Indian Hindu pilgrims. You will stay in a small guesthouse near the monastery. The elevation of Dira Puk Monastery is 5080 meters.

Day9. Second Day of Mt. Kailash Kore-Dirapuk to Zutul Puk (4820m),18Km

The second day of our trek around Kailash will take us up and over the Dolma La Pass, the highest pass on the circuit at 5630 meters. Excellent mountains and glacier views will follow you for most of the day. From the Dolma La Pass, you will descend to Zutul Puk Monastery, elevation 4820 meters. The total trekking distance today is 18 kilometres.

Day10. Last day of Mt. Kailash Kora-Zutul Puk to Darchen to Mansarovar (4560Km), 14Km

The third and fifinal day of our trek will cover 14 kilometres from Zutul Puk Monastery back to Darchen. After the trek, we will return for one final night along the shores of scenic Lake Manasarovar. There is a hot spring at the Manasarovar Lake; We think it is a very good idea to soak in a mineral-rich hot spring and take a very good rest.

 

Day11. Lake Mansarovar to Saga,580Km

Today, you can enjoy the beautiful sunrise view over the sacred lake Masarovar and visit the surrounding stunning landscapes and take short walk along the lake.

Then, depart to Saga through typical small villages and vast stretches of untouched wilderness.

Overnight in Saga

Day12. Saga-EBC(5050m),550Km

Today, you will drive to Mt. Everest Base Camp, another stunning attraction of the tour. On the way, you will see the natural beauty of Peikutso Lake, experience the great view of Mt. Shishapama, which is another sacred mountains in Tibet. Also you will enjoy the distant view of Northern Face of Mt. Everest.

Overnight in Rongbuk Monastery Guesthouse

Day13. EBC-Shigatse (3900m),350Km

After enjoying the stunning sunrise view of the Mt. Everest, you will visit to Rongbuk Monastery, one of the world’s highest altitude monasteries, and return back to Shigatse.

Overnight in Shigatse

Day14. Shigatse to Lhasa(3650m),280Km

Today, you will drive back to Lhasa. There is around 280Km for the direct route which will take only 6hrs. You will have enough time to walk around the Jokhang temple, enjoy some local food or do some shopping.

Day15. Depart from Tibet

Your guide and driver will transfer you to the Airport or Train Station and you will start your next journey and say good bye to Tibet.

1: Tibet Travel Permit

Without Tibet Travel Permits, you cannot enter Tibet (Tibet Autonomous Region), China, but it is not difficult to obtain the permit, registered company like TRW, it can be easily obtain it for you if your Tibet Tour has been confirmed with a legit registered local travel company.

2: Alien Permit

Alien Travel Permit (ATP) is an additional permit which is required if your itinerary is in Gyirong, Kailash, Ngari and EBC in western part of Tibet,Tsedang,Nyinchi, Ranwo Lake, Basum Lake, Sakga or Shalu Monasteries in Shigatse area,

3: Military Permit

The Military Permits as you can see from the word, this permit is related to military department, thus, this travel document is mainly issued by the military authority in Tibet, in fact, this permit is compulsory for entering to any border regions between China and neighboring countries. Military permits are required for visiting following places in Tibet apart from TTP.

  • Ali (Far Western Tibet)
  • Guge Kingdom (Far Western Tibet)
  • Gyirong (New Border to Nepal)
  • Lake Manasarovar (Near Mt. Kailash in Far Western Tibet)
  • Kailash (Western Tibet)
  • Nyima country (Border country between Ali and Nakchu Prefecture)
  • Cochin

Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) is the basic required permit to travel to Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), every foreign travelers must need Tibet Travel Permit to enter to Tibet along with your Chinese Visa or Tibet Group Visa. Though it seems very hard or confusing, it just takes few simple steps, and your travel agency will do the rest.

Tibet Travel Permit is mainly obtained from Tibet Tourism Bureau in Lhasa, Tibet, which contains the tourist’s information and confirmed itineraries.

According to the latest Chinese regulations for foreign visitors, passports must have a validity of six months (at least) to apply for a Chinese visa. This requirement also applies when traveling to Tibet along with Tibet Travel Permit.
