  • The 8 Days Lhasa to Mt. Everest Base Camp (EBC) Adventure offers a truly unique travel experience in Tibet. You will travel from Mainland China to Lhasa, where you can visit renowned attractions such as Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple while acclimatizing to the altitude.
  • As you journey westward from Lhasa toward Mt. Everest, you will encounter remarkable natural and cultural wonders. Along the old Friendship Highway to Gyantse, enjoy stunning views of the sacred Yamdrok Lake and visit the magnificent Karola Glacier.
  • On the overland route to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet, you’ll witness breathtaking landscapes filled with snow-capped Himalayan peaks.
  • The highlight of the journey is reaching Mt. Everest Base Camp (EBC), a dream destination for travelers worldwide. Here, you can admire the spectacular North Face of Mt. Everest, take a short trek, or capture unforgettable photographs of the stunning surroundings.

Tour Plan

Day 1. ARRIVAL TO LHASA (3650m)

Your guide and driver will greet you at the airport or train station with a white scarf, welcoming you to Tibet. They’ll then transfer you to your hotel, where you can rest and take time to acclimatize to the high altitude of the Tibetan Plateau.

Day 2. LHASA CITY GUIDED TOUR (B)

Today, you’ll visit the Potala Palace – the iconic symbol of Tibet and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, you’ll head to Norbulingka, the traditional summer palace of the Dalai Lama.

Day 3. LHASA ESCORTED TOUR (B)

In the morning, you’ll visit Jokhang Temple, the most renowned Buddhist temple in Tibet. Your guide will explain its rich history and profound significance to the Tibetan people in detail. Then you’ll take a short drive to Sera Monastery, one of the largest Gelug sect Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. After your exploration of the monastery, make your way to its courtyard – where you’ll see monks gathering in different groups to take part in traditional religious debates.

Day 4. LHASA TO GYANTSE - SHIGATSE (3900m) (B)

Today you’ll drive to Gyantse – a historic Tibetan town lovingly called the Hero Town. On the way, we’ll stop at Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s most beautiful and sacred lakes, where you can snap photos as much as you like and soak in the breathtaking natural scenery, all framed by snow-capped mountain peaks. After that, we’ll take a gentle short trek along Karola Glacier, a little walk with incredible up-close glacier views. Then we’ll head on to Gyantse to explore two beloved local landmarks: Pelkhor Choede Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum Stupa. You’ll be truly amazed by their exquisite ancient artwork – every detail brims with Tibet’s rich cultural charm.

Stay overnight in Shigatse

Day 5. SHIGATSE (3900m) TO EBC (5050m) (B)

We’ll drive to Everest Base Camp (EBC) today, and on the way, we’ll pass Gyawu La Pass. This spot lets us see the magnificent snow-capped mountains that tower over 8000 meters high right in front of us. As we continue our journey to EBC, every turn brings a wonderful surprise: the breathtaking north face of Mount Everest will unfold before our eyes, along with so many other majestic high mountains stretching across the Himalayan ranges. It’s a drive filled with incredible mountain views at every step!

Overnight in Rongbuk Guesthouse

Day 6. EBC TO SHIGATSE (B)

Morning, you will enjoy the beautiful view of sunrise on Mount Everest and take some memorable photos. Then you can visit Rongbuk Monastery, which is one of the highest-altitude monasteries in the world. Drive back to Shigatse.

Overnight in Shigatse

Day 7. SHIGATSE TO LHASA (B)

After a healthy breakfast at the hotel, start a spiritual tour at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. Then drive back to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River.

Overnight in Lhasa

Day 8. DEPARTURE (B)

Your guide and driver will transfer you to Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa Train Station as per your schedule. You will depart to your next destination with unforgettable memories of Tibet.

1: Tibet Travel Permit

Without Tibet Travel Permits, you cannot enter Tibet (Tibet Autonomous Region), China, but it is not difficult to obtain the permit, registered company like TRW, it can be easily obtain it for you if your Tibet Tour has been confirmed with a legit registered local travel company.

2: Alien Permit

Alien Travel Permit (ATP) is an additional permit which is required if your itinerary is in Gyirong, Kailash, Ngari and EBC in western part of Tibet,Tsedang,Nyinchi, Ranwo Lake, Basum Lake, Sakga or Shalu Monasteries in Shigatse area,

3: Military Permit

The Military Permits as you can see from the word, this permit is related to military department, thus, this travel document is mainly issued by the military authority in Tibet, in fact, this permit is compulsory for entering to any border regions between China and neighboring countries. Military permits are required for visiting following places in Tibet apart from TTP.

  • Ali (Far Western Tibet)
  • Guge Kingdom (Far Western Tibet)
  • Gyirong (New Border to Nepal)
  • Lake Manasarovar (Near Mt. Kailash in Far Western Tibet)
  • Kailash (Western Tibet)
  • Nyima country (Border country between Ali and Nakchu Prefecture)

Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) is the basic required permit to travel to Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), every foreign travelers must need Tibet Travel Permit to enter to Tibet along with your Chinese Visa or Tibet Group Visa. Though it seems very hard or confusing, it just takes few simple steps, and your travel agency will do the rest.

Tibet Travel Permit is mainly obtained from Tibet Tourism Bureau in Lhasa, Tibet, which contains the tourist’s information and confirmed itineraries.

According to the latest Chinese regulations for foreign visitors, passports must have a validity of six months (at least) to apply for a Chinese visa. This requirement also applies when traveling to Tibet along with Tibet Travel Permit.
